MJog's COVID-19 Solution

Last week, like millions of us around the UK and the world, MJog were delighted to hear the brilliant news that the Medicines Health Regulatory Authority (MHRA) has approved for use the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine. With Astra Zeneca’s Oxford Vaccine in late-stage trials there is a clear and realistic prospect that 2021 will be a much more positive year than 2020.

Now comes the challenge of deploying Covid-19 vaccines at scale, whether that be through nationally run vaccination centres, regionally through NHS Trusts, locally through primary care, or a combination of these.

MJog is in a fantastic position to help. Our platform has been tried, tested and proven during over a decade of vaccination campaigns; and we are known and trusted by tens of thousands of primary care clinicians and practice managers.

Across the country, over 4,000 GP Practices using Mjog have ready-made access to a suite of Covid-19 vaccination resources, guides and pre-written templates. This includes pre-approved NHS Covid-19 vaccination content that can be shared instantly with over 30 million patients, as well as sequenced reminder messages designed to drive optimal uptake and attendance. These messages are ready to send to patients now.

Since the approval of the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine, the number of patients reached by MJog health campaigns has increased by 51% increase, to over 3 million strong. We’ve also been able to increase use of the MJog Voice solution by 200% since November, particularly benefitting older patient cohorts.

MJog’s platform is “plugged in” to an Electronic Patient Record (EPR), so it provides GP’s with the tools they need to identify the high-risk or age-based cohorts which will need to receive a Covid-19 vaccination as a matter of urgency. Communicating with specific and categorised patient lists, “batch messaging” of secure, real-time information is our bread and butter. We have built our business on it.

As a patient-first organisation, MJog understands that different people have different communication needs. That’s why we give patients access to care through the communication channel of their choice; whether that be by landline voice messaging, by email, by text or through their smartphone applications. We have deep expertise in running large-scale vaccination campaigns.

Each year, MJog is proud to deliver upwards of 30 million flu vaccination campaign invitations.

As the Covid-19 vaccination campaign gets underway, we know from experience that it is crucial to understand the communications needs and habits of patients and schedule any associated patient outreach accordingly. We know for example that many older patients prefer to communicate (and book their appointments) by telephone. Staging invitations within and across patient cohorts, dependent upon what we know about their communication preferences, is a fundamental element of success in managing the workload associated with vaccination campaigns.

And, because we have already developed a comprehensive set of Covid-19 vaccination resources and support tools for GPs to use with patients, we can help create the confidence in and patient engagement with the vaccination process that will help ensure its success. By offering cohort specific pre- and post-vaccination information, appointment reminders and other essential facts and tools, we can help address any uncertainties felt by patients and ensure that they feel supported throughout the entire Covid-19 vaccination process.

The MJog system integrates with a patient’s EPR, meaning we are able to prompt patients to book an available Covid-19 vaccination session and produce a record of their vaccination. And, in partnership with our GP system supplier colleagues, we are developing an integrated booking capability. We are able to both identify and reach vaccination cohorts when it is their turn to be vaccinated, we can call them to their appointment, and we can recall them when and if necessary.

MJog is a UK company and has been in business for 12 years. We treat every single patient communication we handle with the utmost respect. We can and should support the delivery of the Covid-19 vaccination campaign, upon which we all depend.
